I'm looking to move to all AMD. I was going to get a 570 board with 3600 RAM and then drop in a 1600 until I have the cash to get an 8 core 3700x or even a 4000 series cpu. Is this wishful thinkin gor a sensible option? I'm thinking to get a good 570 board now for later on as some of the 470x boards don't have 3600 ram support speeds

Give this thread a read regarding the 1600AF:

If you hunt around it's possible to pick one up for £80-90 or so, absolutely worth it given the performance on offer.

As for a 'good X570 board' -- in most cases you could save cash and just pick up an MSI B450 MAX and performance will be just as good. It could be worth going for something like the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite if you need certain features for around £200 but I wouldn't spend anymore than that.

Will the Max board be able to run the 3600 rated RAM speed though? Using XMP?

The max will do 4000+ ram speed with a 3000 series ryzen, it might struggle to do 3600 on a first gen chip as the CPUs memory controller isn't as good, in which case you could just run the ram at 3200/3400 until you get the 3700x.

I think a lot of first gen CPUs don't work on x570 boards so be careful.

As blaineoliver has stated, X570 does not support 1st Gen Ryzen CPU’s. I am not sure if you were to source a 1600 AF whether that would be the exception, however they seem to be hens teeth and there are a lot of 1600 1st Generation still out there. I would go with a 2600 as they can be had for £110 if you have a shop around. Also look to get a B450 or X470 as There is no real benefit with going X570.
