Hi,

I'm probably the only 1600X owner on here I think everyone else went for the 1600 so this is a bit of a long shot but I'm curious.

What's your load and idle temps?

There is really conflicting info in reviews, some are similar to mine and some are much lower even on the standard cooler, I'm trying to decide if my cooler isn't good enough or if my case is restrictive, probably the latter.

My temps are mid 30's idle and mid 60's load (Gaming) I know the idle is normal but is the load normal for a decent CPU Cooler?

I have an open air cooled GPU which I honestly believe makes a difference to CPU temps under gaming loads compared to a reference or AIO cooled GPU.

Spec is

1600X standard clocks
Noctua U12 SE Cooler
Fractal Define C Case
2 x Noctua AF14 intakes and 1 x NF12 exhaust

Cheers

Air cooler 60 is ok, not sure if it's still happening but the cpu temp wasn't giving a true reading at one point and adding an extra 20c on the 1700 range.

The 20c offset is removed on those temps, its pretty much a thing of the past now as most monitoring software accounts for it

thanks for the replies, also hoping some people with same cpu can hopefully chime in

Cheers mate ill move on with my life now, I suppose what I'm trying to do is make sure nothing is throttling under load but with tells in the 60c's its not going to

thanks

The 60C you are seeing are likely spikes caused by XFR. This is where the chip increases voltage close to 1.4v volts and the clock speed increases to 4.1ghz.

I wouldn't worry about it as you want that performance for single/2x threaded tasks.

Mid 30s idle suggests you have a slightly high ambient inside your case.

I've noticed my idle temps shoot up to 40 and then immediately drop incrementally back down to 30. This happens over a matter of 5 seconds if I'm watching temps and happens constantly.

Having read the previous post is this normal or an issue at idle? Clock speeds increase momentarily causing the temp to go up but 10 degrees seems excessive to me?

I'm using a Noctua D14 cooler
