Hi all,

I am looking to build a new pc to go into the living room for VR gaming and not much else, maybe media center duties because getting cables from my gaming pc to the living room will be a nightmare.

I want to use a Ryzen CPU and build a compact machine.

With this being a second machine I want to keep costs down where I can.

The main features of the Ryzen 2 need the Z470 chipset

I can do without storemi and I can do a manual OC of the CPU.

I know the auto pc is good but is it worth paying more and having a larger pc just to get precision boost 2 or can I do the same thing with a manual OC?

Thanks
Matt

Hi Cat, thanks, it will be September when I have the money (I just paid the deposit on my new car) so I will see what happens between now and then.

I don't think there are any features that are exclusive to 400 series boards. You can still use StoreMI - you just don't get it for free. Precision Boost 2 is a CPU feature and works fine on 300 series boards. There was talk of Precision Boost Overdrive being 400-series exclusive, but that's made its way to 300 series boards too (at least some X370 boards like the Crosshair VI). Still, there's no reason not to get a 400 series board I suppose, unless you can find a great deal on a 300 series one. There seems to be a general quality uplift across the range from most manufacturers.
