Ryzen 3 pricing from OCUK

It's funny how people complain that the new gen is too expensive compared to the previous gen due to price cuts. Maybe they are used to Intel who never lowers the price of their CPU's despite how old they get.
Maybe AMD need to stop reducing pricing if people are only going to whine about it?

These people have no intention of buying AMD CPU's at all.

how can you say this ? im sitting here money ready to buy. the prices are way too dear.

motherboards are too dear for them. its actually really funny because normally all these " pro " amd people would be no way am i buying that intel cpu at that price. now amd is charging those intel and above prices they brilliant value. :D

you cant make it up.

You don't need an x570 board though. You can get a far cheaper b450 one and be laughing. Folks with x370 won't even need a new board.

That's a fair point. Those with deep pockets can buy the X570. We consumers have often been mugs for many years; companies have always charged way more for very little extra and many will aspire to get the the top end because it is the 'best'.

It's a double edged sword.
For those looking for the best value and don't want to chase the last 10 - 20% of performance the 2000 series are the clear winners.
That's what I would buy if hadn't built a new system just over a year ago.
That's purely a preference and not a whinge.
If I was chasing performance then the 3000 series would likely be my choice.

Yes the prices are stupid but at least there's the option of X470 boards. If you don't want/need PCIe 4.0, you're not losing anything by going with one of them. Unlike Intel where you need to upgrade from Z370 to Z390 for literally no reason, and you have to get the top-end CPU and top-end chipset to overclock. As usual, the situation on the Intel side is worse.

If you think the 3000 series is too expensive compared to the heavily discounted 2000 series, get a good B450 and 2600 or 2700 job done. Bargain performance for the price and none of this 720p 500 FPS rubbish as you wouldn’t have 2080Ti anyway.

Doesn’t look like it’s worth going for X570 unless you have to have the newest and greatest technology which you have always had to pay for regardless of vendor. 12 and even 16 core should be fine to overclock on the best X470 boards if you want to push.

I would like to go to X470 but it looks like most of them can’t do the update to support ryzen 3000 without an older ryzen. On the other hand there are plenty of high end b450 that can do the bios update without a cpu.

Technically I can do a BIOS flashback on the C7Hero, however I was having some issues yesterday but I think it was due to the name on the BIOS file. I am going to try tomorrow again since removing the 8 pin and 24 pin every 5 minutes to use my PC and that board is not fun with the case and all the cables on the way.

Interesting yeah it’s supposed to be one of the few X470 that supports it. Let us know if you manage to get it work in the end. I’m also curious to see how it works out on the msi side of x470/b450 with the flash bios button.

Just rename it C7H.CAP and put it on the USB, if it's named anything else it won't work. I had the same issue doing it on my C6H after a powercut whilst flashing.

i) Change UEFI filename as C7H.CAP or C7HWIFI.CAP depending on your model.

ii) Copy to USB stick, it must be formatted to FAT32. File must not be in a directory.

iii) Load UEFI defaults prior to doing flashback and let mobo repost and shutdown.

iv) Make sure USB stick is in Flashback port

v) Press and hold the Flashback button (blue box, above image) ~5secs. Blue LED on the button will flash slow for a few seconds and quicken as it starts update process. At the end of process it will extinguish, you are ready to boot up. If the blue LED stays constant the UEFI file was not found on USB stick, so check USB stick is correct format and filename is correct.

They're not charging Intel and above pricing though. X570 is PCIE4, Intel boards aren't. It's new tech and the cost to produce is greater. The boards aren't comparable as a result. The CPU's aren't the same price, they're cheaper like for like. Anyone can state PCIE4 isn't necessary, which for a lot of people it isn't, but that's not the point.

I did that, however I think the issue was that I renamed it to C7HWIFI.CAP even though the file is already .CAP. The system probably saw it as C7HWIFI.CAP.CAP and that is why it didn't work. I am going to try again tomorrow.

Thats the issue i have, i need a mini ITX and none of them can be updated via usb so i would need an older cpu which is gonna cost £50+ to just flash it so i dunno if i better off putting that extra £50 towards a X570

I saw that video, what happens is when everyone tries to write the name of the file to their corresponding mobo, the .CAP is already in the name. When I do it its not there so I manually type it, but I think that is the mistake. I will check tomorrow.
