Hello a quick question, is the Ryzen 3 1200 suitable for photoshop, graphics editing with 8gb RAM and a 1030 card?

Or would I be better off with an i5 7500 8Gb RAM and no video card, im thinking of future upgradability, but at the moment im on a very tight budget.

Just wondering if the i5 with 8gb of RAM is better than a Ryzen 3 with 8Gb RAM and a 1030 card considering the intel has onboard graphics.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but thanks for any thoughts, cheers, Zoob

I would prefer 16GB of RAM for such tasks, but you can get an 8GB stick of RAM down the line. I would get the Intel CPU and see if you are happy with the performance of the onboard GPU. Head on Adobe's website and check if the onboard GPU is on their supported GPU list.

Thanks, yes its supported. It seems its as good as most £60 cards foe what i need so i think i'm buying the i5 instead and save money and have better upgrade options and headroom with the i5 over the Ryzen.

The Core i5 7400 is on a dead platform and is overpriced, and no you won't have better upgrade options too. If you are considering an Intel CPU look at the Core i5 8100 instead as that has a better upgrade path.

Also what graphics editing?? You need to specify what you are using!!

Hey, thanks for replys, oh god dont give me more options.. ;p Its being used with an HD graphics drawing tablet, its for my neice and she is into anime and manga drawing, not so much gaming if any. we only have a small budget of £450, but i dont need the PSU or OS. I'm just trying to builds somthing that works well now and has some upgrade options. I wish I had more budget, but I dont, I need to get the Mobo, RAM, CPU, SSD and case from that.

It wont be used for overclokcing

And now the ryzen 5 1600 is on offer

If i cant build anything decent enough I was thinking of a 2nd hand chip i5, if so what should i look for?

If it's just a personal hobby then 8gb RAM is enough, my sister does that sort of thing as well and is fine with a laptop Ivybridge i5 and the latest Photoshop CC.

The 1600 will be brilliant for photoshop. With the 1030 it should be an overall decent PC to draw with as well as watching anime smoothly with the video decoder on the GPU.

Can I be "that guy" and suggest that Photoshop is the wrong tool for freehand drawing? Recommend looking into Manga Studio, much more suited for the job, cheaper, and more lightweight than PS :)

From experience, an old i5 2500k is quite adequate for this task, probably be fine even with a laptop. Drawing programs are usually more demanding on memory space and disk speed than on CPU.

Must admit, I also would want 16gb in there... Would not wish to use any drawing package with only 8.
