Hi all, just building my new rig.

Msi b450 gaming Pro carbon ac
Ryzen 5 3600 with stock fan

The fan doesn't seem to spin at all, yet if i connect an old fan it works and the bios detects the spinning speed.

Temperature sitting between 45 and 50.

Any help would be great. All parts brand new

Forgot to say it all boots up into windows fine. But I then turn it off due to the fan not working, just incase.

Should the fan start straight away?

I've checked the bios and the lowest temp setting for the fan is 20 degrees, so I assume it should be on!?

Technically it's safe to run as long as temperatures are within safe values, and if they go above those values your computer should automatically shut down anyway.

I would make sure that your heatsinks fan is functioning properly regardless, is it the stock cooler you're using or something else?

That's a little trickier then as if the fan is dead it isn't a case of being able to easily replace it afaik.

See if you can force it to spin up, if not you have the option of contacting the place you bought it from and seeing if they'll send a replacement out, or simply upgrading the cooling to a better third party solution.

I too had a dicky fan from new
Very slow then speed up a bit
Contact OCUK customer service.I had to show a video of it not working properly and they sent me out a new heatsink
So it does happen
What i tried after with the dodgy heatsink fan was squeezing it together,it started working as it should then but ended up binning it as i did not trust it because it was for someone else's pc :)
