Hello

I have just purchased a Ryzen 7 5800x and as the title suggest I'm upgrading from the 3600. I'm using a MSI B550 Gaming Edge WIFI and it is currently on BIOS version E7C91AMS.100. Before i go ahead with the install can someone advise me will this BIOS version suffice and if not which version do I need to update it to?

I don't know how to get the bios version from what you said, because it doesn't match the way that MSI describe them on the support page, but if it is 7C91v10 (release bios) then no, it is not compatible. You could check if it says Ryzen 5000 ready on the box.

What stepping is the CPU, B0 or B2?

Going by the CPU compatibility list you need at least bios 7C91v14 for B0 or 7C91v17 for B2.

I would just get the latest 7C91v1C installed. (it includes a security patch)
