Ryzen 5 3600 upgrade

Hi,

I currently have the above CPU, and in the last 6 months I've upgraded the rest of my system to a 3080Fe and a Corsair RMx1000 PSU.

I game at 1440p with a MSI 165hz monitor and I notice my set up struggles to maintain anything above 150Hz, am I bottlenecked by my cpu?

Will it be a huge gain to go to a 5800x?

Worth changing certainly, but AMD are about to announce/launch (4th Jan) the new 5xxx parts with 3D-vcache added that could add another 15%+ performance in games. I'd wait to see if they give pricing and availability as the 5800X may go down in price or the new part may be worth paying a bit more for.

Just 1 week until AMD will host their event so you might as well wait and see what AMD has to show us.
