Hi lads!

I have a mini ITX PC and I want upgrade processor:

I have (last 3 years) AMD Ryzen 5 5600G and recently I bought a GPU (Asus Rog Strix RX6650XT 8GB for €235) , so now I want to upgrade the CPU and I narrowed down to two choices!

R7 5800X or R9 5900X ?

I don't play game, I need this for Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop/Premier, which means I don't need many cores, but best single core performance. Will R9 5900X be overkill?

-I got the cooler already, it's Thermalright Silversoul 110 black and yesterday I also ordered a 32GB of RAM (I have 16GB since start of this PC build). I took Corsair VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz CL16, and I had also excellent RAM, but 16GB is not good even for photo edting (I have Crucial Ballistix BL2K8G32C16U4B 3200 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Desktop Gaming Memory Kit, 16GB (8GB x2), CL16)

Thanks in advance!

sorry ive update the post i hit ender before i was done typing

the x3d cache is good for games before you can load more info to cache, if you running programs that are constantly loading and reloading small fails it can help that's why threadripper now as the cache
Thanks for reply. If I may ask, why 5700X3D, why not 5800X3D? I'm also thinking is it worth to invest into 5000 series in 2025 since 9000 series is out few month ago... hm hm

the differance in real world performance ina few %%, but it runs much coolers and can OC.

AM5 is a solid option if you can swallow to cost or use the extra performance. an 5700x is about £120
The 5700x3d is better value while being only slightly slower than the 5800x3d
Thanks folks!
So R9 5900X is out of game?
I'm from Ireland and this evening I found a used R9 5900X for €160 / £133 at Facebook marketplace.

I also found other option, also used R7 5800X3D for €200 / £166, https://www.donedeal.ie/pc-for-sale/amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d-box/38633583, that's by far the cheapest option, all else was closer to 300 (Amazon) or any other hardware shop...

Alternative is German Amazon where I found R7 5700X3D for €225 / £186 and R7 5800X for only €151 / £125 (at UK Amazon these are more expensive).

I'm not in rush to get this, but I got a good cooler and more RAM, so would be good to wrap this PC, and then in about a year, I would sell all and build myself another custom mini ITX (Ryzen Zen 5 / AM5 with DDR5.

no its a good CPU, the way i see it your main options are 5700x or the 5900x
i would avoid the 5800x it can be a pain to keep cool, so therefor not run at full speed in CPU intensive task's
OK, thanks!

Update: I'm limited to Amazon only to get any of these (these lads I found on DoneDeal don't ship), but I'm also considering to sell whole setup and go with AM5 and DDR5...
