Ryzen 5000 crashes - anyone getting them?

Since I went back to 2x8gb of memory (instead of 4x8gb), I don't have any more crashes! Having said that, 4x8gb at 3200Mhz was stable, the crashes came for clocking the memory at 3600 and beyond.

With a 5800X I would have thought that 1800 FSB and ram at 3600 would be fine assuming your ram is rated for that. In my own case I got crashes at default ram speeds which are of course 2133, so RAM was never a determining factor (alth9ough I did change my ram over to a new set with my previous 5950X without any effect). If you are only using 3200 ram, don't assume 3600 will just work.

As mentioned above, the RMA did the trick. It's now been two weeks and I've had no crashes or unexplained events at all, and I am running at full XMP/DOCP which in my case is 3600 (with matching 1800 FSB which even AMD reports as being ok).

I suspect there are a few small numbers of early batches out there that probably went a little wrong and AMD has attempted to sweep things under the carpet quickly. Regardless, I am very happy with the replacement processor, and when I have a little time I might even try a bit of clock tuning using the curve optimiser. Regardless, this new chip is an absolute beast and now that I have zero crashes, is a joy to use.

Id like to know this aswell if it was serious there would be more people with it funny its starting to get noticed now aswell x570 has been out a while now so to me its sounds strange especially the timing dave must be busy on the web

I have those exact issues with USB dropping out and stuttering with that exact combination of hardware and its annoying. So, if enough people have the same problems then yes, obviously it is serious enough for them to finally start dedicating engineering time to fixing.

I not saying there arnt people out there with these issues we know there are and yes im glad theyre trying to fix it and so they should the point i was trying to make was not everyone has them i hope you get yours sorted mate but when you get the likes of dave who spends all his day looking on web for amd problems then posting them all over forums it doesnt help the genuine people who have these issues pretending his mate has them etc etc what motherboard have you got is it a b550 or x570

Strangely I’ve not personally had the USB issues myself with either 3000 or 5000 series processors. I’ve had the Corsair drop outs but that’s a separate issue and most certainly not AMD related.
I havnt had any my son and grandson hasnt either but weve all got same motherboard gigabyte x570 elite

These issues around USB will be interesting to sort out as it will all be dependant on whether the USB issues are ones related to the X570 or B550 chipset itself, or to the USB directly hanging off the processor itself.

I used to get frequent dropouts on my B550 Aorus Pro AC of the mouse, keyboard, bluetooth headphones... it was almost unusable. Then I moved the usbs on the back plate down a few slots, away from the bluetooth/wifi tranciever and it removed the mouse and keyboard dropouts but less regular bluetooth dropouts remained. Lately with bios revisions the problem is fairly rare but remains.

What board have you got out of interest

Originally an Asus ROG Strix I-Gaming, but moved over to the Crosshair Impact. Neither board experienced the USB issue, but I purchased the other board to rule out an issue, which sadly it did not. It's meant I am up a board which I am now in the process of selling.

The I-Gaming had both a 3800X (zero issues) and then a 5950X in it (with the 5950X being faulty, but having WHEA and general page protection errors), and the Impact only having the faulty 5950X processor plus the AMD RMA replacement which has been 100% perfect to date (mirroring my 3800X experiences). It took a lot of sleuthing to finally come around to agreeing it was the processor all along.

I should add that there were a few keyboard cut outs, but they were few and far between on the 5950X, but it was not a consistent issue I could reproduce as it was a once a fortnight issue. Again I have had zero issues with the replacement processor AMD provided. A reminder that the stable processor was actually from an earlier batch than the processor which was causing all my grief. Whilst newer BIOSes made things better, I was never quite able to solve everything.

Ok, but just because not 'everyone' has a problem doesn't mean it isn't a significant or recurring problem.

As for dave, if someone bothers you then put them on ignore.

I almost bought a new keyboard the other day but then it started behaving again. After reading some of the posts on this thread it appears I may be suffering some of these issues.

My Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse sometimes stutter, I was thinking it was the pad for the mouse and just age for the keyboard but maybe the USB Unifying receiver is being affected by this issue on my 5800X/X570 Tomahawk combination.

I hope it gets sorted soon. I'm on latest BIOS and updated drivers now and still noticed some stutter..

EDIT: But on the topic of CPU crashes my 5800X is behaving really well, no issues to report other than the USB problem.

Your missing the point with dave its people like him which make it harder for people who have problems to get help fixing them if you look at his posts theyre all trolling post not once has he offered advice on anything just makes it harder to follow threads mate when you got someone like that and if you ignore it also makes it harder to follow the thread as it all goes off topic someone else suggested dave should be banned from posting for this very reason

As for the usb issue is it a certain manufacture or b550 or is it spread equally across all manufactures and both b550 and x570 i really do hope amd sort it though and hope you manage to sort yours out i see you got msi x570 unify

I'm not missing the point, I just don't give a **** about random people trolling on the internet and I blank them out from my forum life using the forums ignore feature.

The problem is a chipset issue, not brand specific.

Ok just never had problems with gigabyte elite x570 and got 3 systems with said board but noticed issues with elite b550 boards hence me asking what board you had

I think you are missing a key issue however. It remains to be seen if these are issues related to the chipset, or lanes connected directly to the processor. There are two ways to hang USB off the Ryzen processors, and thus far it is a little unclear on whether these are processor or chipset related.

I have never had any USB issues with my 5800x and X570, neither with the previous 2700 and 3600 on B450/x370. I did have problems with an i5 8400 and Asus Z370P and the case front USB 3 ports (rear ports were fine).

Anyway, I will stop watching this thread, already too long and I don't think we are resolving anything anymore ;)
