Hey guys,

I have recently toned down my CPU AIO fans to make it a little quieter when doing the basics, (browsing, music, email etc..) , my "concern" is the fluctuation..it seems to range from mid 30's and PEAK, never stay, at around 58-60 degrees..

When left to truly idle (I mean leaving it for a bit without any input, it goes to high 20's / low 30's..

So basically, what im asking is the fluctuation OK on the 5900X chip?

As has been said its normal, What motherboard do you have? i added a 3 second delay to my fans ramping up in the BIOS, so the fans don't come off idle at all unless there is 3 seconds of sustained heat, it stops that ramping up and down of fans as the CPU boosts up and down in short bursts.

Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite V2 AX.

I currently have a MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus.

The current profile seems pretty good, don’t hear it half as much with headphones or my speakers.

So it’s a win for me!

Very normal. What you should focus is keep under control under load. But your temps are good.
With the 3900x I was able to get a bit more performance but way less heat using a negative offset. I do t think the 5900x benefits as much, but any voltage lower than the stock usually is a win.
But as it is, is good. My fans only spin in a meaningful rpm when CPU hits 75C. And unless I’m benchmarking, won’t happen easily. Different CPU 7800x3D, but I believe not a much different behaviour.

Cheers. Yeah, the funny thing is that under load, gaming mainly, the temps actually stabilise and don’t fluctuate as much.

As an example I played some Death Stranding for a period to get an idea of temps under a fairly demanding game, and my gpu was peaking around 60c and my cpu around 50!

I couldn’t believe it being that low under some gaming load.

I haven’t stress tested but I don’t see the point in my system as it’s only for gaming and general stuff.
