Ryzen 7 2700x or Ryzen 5 3600

Got a choice between the 2 cpu's above, main uses are gaming at 1440p and general web browsing, which should i choose ?

Either should be pretty good. I’d probably lean toward the 8 cores of the 2700X.

At 1440p I don’t think you’ll see any difference.

I’d probably go for more cores.

I was faced with a similar choice a while back and went with 2700X as it was slightly cheaper and I was upgrading from a 1600 so wanted more cores to justify the upgrade
If they will cost you the same, then given your use cases the 3600 is probably the best bet.

I'd say 3600, the IPC increase is worth it. I was stuck between the 3600 and 2700X when I came from my 3570k. The cores were appealing but the 2700X wasn't worth the extra bit of money for gaming to me

Well got the 2700x in the end, managed to get it £40 cheaper than the 3600

When I was looking it was about £40 more, hence my decision. For £40 less you haven't made a bad decision.
