Considering getting one of these CPUS

I have a Kraken 360 AIO which works nicely with the Ryzen 5 3600. By that I mean at idle the PC is literally silent.. Under full load Cinebench is never more than 70c, gaming is usually in the 50s. Liquid temps rarely go above 37c when gaming. ( set a custom curve myself )

Only concern I have of the 5800X3D is the higher temps, which then means having to ramp up my pump speed and fans somewhat ( I hate loud noises ). How much higher are they compared to a R5 3600?
Temps under load is not much of an issue because when gaming, the GPU fans drown out pump noise.. However idle temps when not gaming is the potential issue

Also. Will this cpu run fine with a B450 Tomahawk Max Msi ?

Thanks!

70c seems high for a 3600 with 360mm water cooling. The difference between a 65 and 95 watt AM4 chip is usually around 10c

Could be as my AIO is set to exhaust.
My pump and fans are also turned down low to reduce noise.

I thought full load 70c was alright.

I use the Kraken z73 with the 5800x3d, during idle or general use I have the fans at around 750-800rpm and pump at around 17xx rpm temps bounce around 40-45c

Cinebench multi run 79c , fans get to around 1000-1200rpm

Gaming is lower depends on the game

I use in Lian li Evo case total of 9 120mm fans
Rad at the top as exhaust

Cool thanks for the info. My setup is very similar, Kraken elite and Lian Li with 9 fans total.

Is your curve configured for liquid temps or the CPU temps ?
I find liquid temps much quieter and stable.

Thanks :)

Still considering the 5700x as I've looked at some benchmarks for gaming and the performance at 1440p seems very similar. I heard however if I was to upgrade to a better GPU in future then the 5800X3D is a better option.

Got the CPU set up and the temps are fine so far, they are very similar to the 3600 but under full load 10c hotter ( 76c )

If I run cinebench and ryzen master, all cores get to 4.2ghz. Is there a way to check if it boosts to 4.5ghz somehow ? I have not enabled KomboStrike as it seems to be running alright

in NZXT it says Clock: 4450mhz ( at times )
In MSI Afterburner it says max: 4450mhz

Thanks

Would use pbo2 tuner or if your mb has it kombo strike if i was you just to get the temps and power limit down, and 4450mhz is what it should be running at so thats all good :)

Yeah thanks mate.
I did KomboStrike to 3 and now in Ryzen Master all 8 cores reach 4450mhz rather than 4200mhz so definitely an increase there. Temps are about the same still for stress tests. After a 2 hour session of GTA 5 its in the mid-high 50s so I will leave it all as it is.

The temps are similar to my 3600 whilst gaming.
