My last build was almost 7 years ago.Having put off upgrading for a number of years. Ive been browsing components for a couple of months waiting for the mid range cards to be released before deciding what to do. I've ordered a 7800x3d from another site and looking for help choosing the rest.

Purchase time frame.
2 weeks or so

Budget
About £1000 for everything other than the cpu

Preferences
A 9070 gpu

Usage
Gaming and web browsing. I currently use an old Dell 3007wfp monitor res is 2560 x 1600. I plan on using this for now and change the monitor later in the year

Current Hardware
I have a 1TB sata ssd that I currently use game platforms. All other components and case will be replaced.

Have peripherals already.

Thanks in advance

I'd recommend a B850 board with PCI-E 5.0 if you're willing to spend a little more on the board. We're seeing some PCIE 5.0 cards that run out of VRAM losing a lot of performance with older PCI-E gen(s).

Memory is slower than average, but the X3D mitigates that and the bonus is it works without XMP/EXPO enabled.

2TB SSD is recommended if the 1TB SATA drive is all the storage you have.

Thanks Tetras. If I would need to spend more money it isn't a problem. I wasn't sure if £1k would be enough when making the post.

RGB bling bling baby!
(and a 2TB SSD because 1TB is a travesty for a X3D + 9070 build)
Matching gigabyte board + gpu just because it won't then trigger anyone's OCD  (not really, idgaf about anyone's OCD - it's because it's a 9070 OC model for a non-OC model price)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Having checked the sizing of the suggested cases and some other mid tower cases, I think I'll need a Micro Atx case due to some shelves above the desk.

Thinking something like this, though a lot seems to be pre order at the moment. If I was to spend a little more is there 1 or 2 areas where the money would be better spent?

Thanks

this is a bad case. no ventilation.
i've built in them before. i'll use it for a low-end system, not one with a 9070

save £20 or so with the PNY kit instead. yes c30 is "optimal" but negligible differences especially with an X3D cpu

the rgb version is exactly the same price, hence better value and resale value in the future
you if you don't want the rgb, you don't have to plug in the connectors

Max case dimensions are about 250mm width 460mm height and 500mm depth

*Edit* Height could be 480mm if depth is under 440mm

This is the cheapest relatively plain option with good airflow (you don't seem keen on RGB), you probably don't need the extra fan for the rear exhaust but personally seeing the empty space would annoy me.

A quick check shows the dimensions should be within your requirements, but I'm also a sweaty post gym mess and barely capable of coherent thought, so double check.

The only thing you'd notice would be upgrading the 9070 to a 9070 XT. The rest (e.g. better case, more RAM, higher-end SSD, higher wattage PSU) is just nice to have, it won't give you more FPS.
