You've got to love how Noctua support their products. My son is still using my first Noctua cooler on his I7 8700K with a socket 1151 converter bracket. How does's it run cooler than a 5900X? I thought it was a higher TDP part.I had a double taken when i first saw the CPU temps after installing the 9800X3D. I know the sensors have changed location in the package, but it's very impressive. <45c in most games on my 280mm AIO. That Noctua CPU cooler is plenty good enough.
I know an AIO shouldn't leak, but I'm just not comfortable with water flowing above a £2K GPU.Im thinking of using the NH-D15 G2 just don't seem to need AIO for these anymore so not worth the extra complexity IMO.

It's been a while since I had the 5900X, but it definitely ran hotter than the 7800X3D and 9800X3D CPUs I have had since (all with the same AIO). The X3D parts use a lot less power, and in the case of the 9800X3D, it the structure of the CPU has changed making it run cooler (or at least it apppears that way. I know the temp sensor location was moved within the CPU as well).How does's it run cooler than a 5900X? I thought it was a higher TDP part.![]()
