'Ryzen 9 5900X' more futureproof then 'Ryzen 7 5800X3D' ?

So currently got the following which I upgraded to about 2.5 - 3 years ago :

- Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE
- AMD RYZEN 7 3700X EIGHT CORE 4.4GHZ
- Gigabyte GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER WINDFORCE OC
- Patriot Viper Steel 16GB (2x 8GB) 3600MHz DDR4 C17

I now want 'a little upgrade' so am getting some more RAM (32GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Black) and a different GPU next month (probably the 'Gainward GeForce RTX 4070 Ghost 12GB GDDR6X' which was advised in my other thread) but I can't seem to make up my mind about which CPU to go for.

I've read the 'Ryzen 7 5800X3D' is the best for gaming, but the 'Ryzen 9 5900X' has more cores and sounds more 'futureproof'.

I do a fair bit of gaming (GTA V, Faircry 6, Harry Potter, Forza) but also into photography so sorting/organising large amounts of photo's etc, but nothing 'heavy' like video editing though I do like the have various things open/running at the same time (copying photo's, music, Teams meetings powerpoint running etc).

Will I still see a fair difference with the 5900X (and new GPU) over my current 3700X in gaming, or would I have to go for the 5800X3D if I want to see a real difference on my screen (AOC 34" CU34G2X 3440x1440 VA 144Hz) ?
