Due to upgrade my sons PC and have always used Intel, however I’m interested in the new AMD CPU’s coming soon. After some research Curve Optimiser looks pretty straight forward to undervolt the cpu for better temps, but a few people mentioned that they could not undervolt at all on their CPU due to the “silicon lottery”. I’ve never had an issue on even the worst Intel CPU’s in terms of undervolting, overclocking yes. I’ve also seen that the 5950x can hit quite high temps at stock so this would definitely be an issue for me if I were to receive a dud so to speak.

Anyone had any issues with the 5000 series in terms of undervolting? Or better still if you’ve left yours stock, how has it been temperature wise?

Hi, I appreciate this doesnt answer your question about temps, but my advice would be to hang fire for a month or two unless you have a burning need to upgrade. Both AMD and Intel are releasing new ranges, and I assume you will be upgrading Mobo/RAM its worth seeing whats on offer there.

Hi, yes I will be waiting for the new CPU’s before deciding what to go with.

Wait for 10th October, a lot of motherboards should be released by then (including cheaper B650 boards). AMD has confirmed B650/B650E boards for October.
