I have a home server, currently running on an i5-4460. I'm sick of not having IPMI or AMT, and having to crawl into a cupboard any time I want to do anything to it or any time it's crashed, to the point that I'm currently debating a £700 shopping basket of Xeon E3 1245v5 and C236 motherboard, 16GB ECC DDR4, etc.
I'd rather go for a Ryzen if I'm honest, this thing runs a few VMs and is a Plex server that makes extensive use of transcoding, so 8 cores seems ideal.
But, while Ryzen does support ECC, it seems there is no IPMI/KVM over IP solution? Am I blind or does this just not exist?
I don't want to have to spend hundreds on an IP KVM switch, if that's the case I may as well just go Xeon E5.
