Thought I would get a thread started for us to talk about Ryzen and Linux, hope I haven't missed a thread already created.

I read this Ryzen Linux review, includes results for 1700 and 1700X, with the correct kernel it seems to be doing very well, I believe these results are stock speeds too.

Wow the 1800X is an exceptional CPU for compiling. Faster than a 5960X and less than half the price (over £500 cheaper)!

These Linux benchmarks do show where zen should be performing in comparison to intels offerings when the operating system is up to date and in workloads that make use of all the cores.

I work 80%+ on Linux, a lot of the time compiling large code bases (Android AOSP / chromium) and I would be buying a 1700 setup tommorow if I didn't have a i7-5820k rig already (got a good pre brexit deal)

I know most of you won't care about Linux benchmarks specifically... BUT... this does give an interesting insight into where different types of applications "give up" using more cores and other even regress when it has to deal with more.

Has anyone done a comprehensive test set on Windows with disabling cores?

A Ryzen OpenSUSE Tumbleweed install, all stock settings and then Nvidia driver install for the 1080.
