$309 for a 1700X translates to about £230, a hundred less than currently for sale on ocuk.

im only on an i5. would be very tempted to upgrade to 8c chip if can do it for £230.

Which one would you guys say is the optimum performance vs price vs reduction?

1700 - was £279 now £260 (6% reduction, £19)
1700X - was £330 now £290 (12% reduction, £40)
1800X - was £429 now £340 (20% reduction, £90)

Whats the difference between a B350 and X370 board?

dont know whether to upgrade or not. i currently have an i5 which isnt overclocked and 16gb ddr4 3200 which is running at 2133 because it (or maybe the board, or maybe the i5's memory controller) was unstable at its rated speed.

the ryzen 1800x seems a great price but id also have to spend c.£140 to £200 on a new board.

Got the 1700, its the same chip just lower clocked, clock it up to the same speed (it will do that at least) and you have an 1800X for £80 less.

although its available for £290, so really only £30 less. id like to save on the board but that doesnt look possible.

So the motherboard, RAM and thermal paste arrived...unfortunately the 1800x is tomorrow

price seems to have gone up from £288 to £315 now. they dont give enough time to think about things before purchase. i dont buy on a whim. now its gone back up, i wont buy.
