Wouldn't worry about it too much, I'm putting SETI on hold in about 2 months time to concentrate on Einstein and Milkyway

Milkyway in particular, I think Ba needs some motivation

Nah......fermi's dont float my boat but the GTX580 has got my attention.
IMO nVidia needs to do a lot more work on reducing power consumption before I'll make the leap

You'd be amazed what you can do with 2 9800GX2's

Well i have 3 8800gts 512mb 1 gt 512mb and 2 gts250's one gtx260 and two GTX460's all running full bore and seem to be doing about 60k :confused:

Sure i use to get more than this before seti went down

You should look again at fermi halz
If I remember right the gx2's were around 40A/450W peak per card and the fermi range isn't much more than that, especially the 5xx series now out.
I would recomend you save the cash and go for the 570 over a 580, I have 1 x 480 and 2 x470's and the benefit of the extra cuda cores isn't enough to warrant the extra cost.
You can also run 3 wu's per card which is nice

The other plus is that lunatics still have a lot of optimisation to do with their app, though the suspicion is that the best optimisations and the latest version are being kept to the gpu users group..

I've just spent over £800 on new kit - but nothing to improve performance I'm afraid.

New 1500w Silverstone PSU, 2 x OCZ 60GB 2E's, 4 x Samsung 2TB F4's & NZXT Braided Cables - all in preperation for what is about to begin

So it will just be:

i7 930 & 2 x GTX470's
i5 650 & 2 x GTS250's
Q6600 & 3 x GTX460's

GPU's running SETI & CPU's running Climate Prediction.

That is still some serious crunching power - better build up as big a lead as I can..
