S-jog for sony

hey all, tring to get my sonys jogwheel to work with xubuntu as a middle mouse wheel and found s-jog but being a complete noob I've downloaded the RPM and sauce but dunno how to compile this mother!
anyone used this before or know if theres a better option?
running 9.04 here

nice! ta dude! maybe I can turn the brightness up on this thing after all!

don't happen to know why it's randomly highlighting letter on websites and the top bar is split colours!
