S.P.O.T.Y

We've got so many elite sports men and women now it usually comes down to who gets the most coverage and publicity over the course of the year.

Someone like Murray has been talked about almost daily since the French Open but can't really be considered one of the greatest of his era yet someone like Mo Farah gets talked about for a few weeks every 4 years and he's arguably one of the greatest distance runners ever.

Yeah, good points. I think Murray can be considered the greatest tennis player that the UK has ever produced, but not one of the greatest ever in the world.

I'm going to shortlist the potential winners:

Mo Farah
Andy Murray
Laura Trott or perhaps a joint award for Jason & Laura Kenny
Nick Skelton
Max Whitlock.

For me it's Jason Kenny - 6 Olympic gold medals and pure event domination whilst being pretty cool in the process.

Amazed Ali came 2nd. That was a really nice surprise, but I think this thing has run its course now.

Rather disappointing that the Kenny's weren't in the top 3. The Velodrome was amazingly tense and exciting when they rode for their medals.

Aye, thought at least one of them, but they possibly split their support. Have to agree with the above, outside of Olympic years, if Murray keeps it up for another couple of years there doesn't really seem to be anyone else to beat him.
