I have bought a secondhand Asus Xonar D2X which i am looking forward to installing. I am now considering how to wire everything up. I have a headset which I plan to pop into the stereo jack and the mic port, and then a B&W Zeppelin that I'd like to run from the S/PDIF output.

The S/PDIF out on the D2X is a coax connector, but the S/PDIF input on the Zeppelin is an optical mini jack. I assume that I'll need a powered converter box to change the electrical out into an optical in. Is this correct? Also, is there any difference in the quality of these boxes? Or will any old ebay special work for me? Any recommendations?

The D2/D2X has a dual purpose SPDIF port, which takes either coaxial or mini toslink. It comes with an adaptor, so a standard toslink cable can be used.

Awesome! That's a brilliant piece of news - hopefully my card will still have that connector with it (given that its secondhand)

I must be being dense. It's arrived without the connectors... what should i be searching for on that auction site?

Sorry - just can't seem to find the relevant adaptor.

Brilliant. Found exactly what I need. My Zeppelin has the same connector so a mini-toslink to mini-toslink cable it is! Thanks very much for the help, chaps
