S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in development, officially

the combat was great, you just had to treat it like you where some half starved half drunk ex soviet wash up in a radioactive wasteland.

Not Jack bond all American god of war.

Loved the first game, bought the Clear Sky one but my PC struggled to get 15fps on it. Might give it another go after an upgrade.

Quoted for divine truth.

The combat in the stalker games feels far grittier than most others.

plus you got to add to that you are firing clapped out russian relics that have been used and abused, rifles which at there best were never the most accurate anyway:p

i hope the STALKER 2 will no be a disappointment.
i found the original stalker soc to be one of the most atmospheric and immersive games i've ever played, the locations were brilliant, i found the storyline to be very interesting, the whole chernobyl thing is completely fasinating.:D

its prequel/sequel clearsky and CoP were good, improvements of stability and features, but lacked the same sort of feel and depth as the original, thats ot to say they werent good games though, i still really enjoyed them.

The setting and atmosphere give the grit, but the combat mechanics and execution were wooden and clunky at best. I can't be alone in this? Completely unconvincing ai that barely reacts to being shot - unless it's a headshot and you get the comedy instant fallover. Point and shoot, no strategy required. With some decent hit reaction/animation coupled with ragdolls, ai that's less bot-like, and a little more depth to proceedings, we're talking goty!

Don't think the multi-platform will necessarily result in dumbing down, GSC know their audience, they know trying to turn this thing into MW2 would be commercial suicide.
I'm going to remain opitimistic about this, there is certainly room for improvment in terms of feedback but I hope they keep the combat hard, and easy to be killed quickly.
This series is probabley my favorite of all, I need this to be good :-)

Anyone who says the gun/shooting mechanics in stalker was crap, has been playing too much COD4/MW2.

It's one of the best things about the Stalker games, and one of the rare FPS games these days that actually takes some effort.

Multiplatform can only mean comprimise imho, because there is no way in hell you'd be able to play the current Stalker games on a console.

So Crysis has gone multi-platform, now STALKER has. Alan Wake went from a PC showcase to multiplatform to Xbox only. I wonder if Half-Life 3 is next?

What are you dribbling about? Orange Box went on the 360 and it didn't affect PC gamers in the slightest.

It was ported to the consoles 3 years later. That's completely different. When HL2 was released, the current consoles were not.
