hope you can help
Just received my samsung s20+ and I'm wondering if I can plug it in to my hifi stand alone dac to play my music stored on my phone.
So using a usbc to USB cable .
Sending dital signal down the USB cable to my DAC.

It should work, although what are you achieving? Just so you don't have to turn on your cd/pc source you mean? I tried it before years ago with a uDac2 and a USB on the go cable. I can't even remember what phone I used (i think it was a custom rom though) and I used PowerAmp.

Unless Samsung are blocking audio out over USB for some reason.

I've plugged USB DACs into my Note 1 and Note 4 before (using OTG cable IIRC) and it has just worked. I've not played around with it much though or done it with USB-C.

My thoughts are in that I can play my tidal downloaded files on my phone through my separates Dac in my hi-fi.
I don't get a mobile signal at home and don't have a land line as we live to far from the exchange. Our satellite broadband is capped at 40gb a month.
So when I'm out at work I can download my music and play back hi res files at home wile been off line.

Holy **** capped at 40gb! I didn't think we had capped broadband in the UK. I would max that every other day! I hope you have nice views lol

Yeah, sounds like a plan. Do you not already have a cable? I would google to see if Tidal allows it, it should be built-in with USB C but who knows. Just get a cheap cable for a couple of quid of eBay. Digital is Digital. If it works and you are a 'cable' guy get a nicer one!

on the back of dac the usb is switchable between grnd and lift. while switched to lift i do get sound dac says 48khz pcm but there's also a clicking while playing music in the back ground!
