I thought I'd post this mod I had done to my S2000. This was dreamed up by the UK guys over at s2ki.com and was born out of the desire to make the car sound more fruity without the awful droning caused by an aftermarket system.
Essentially, a pipe is inserted which allows a fair amount of the exhaust gasses to bypass the rear silencers.

The mod was done for me by Ray and Ang up at Daytona Autos. I think it sounds pretty good.

Wouldn't that mess up the flow of gasses quite a bit?

Seems a bit bodgy to me, surely there must be exhausts available that give a sporty sound without being boomy?

Oh and lol at the related videos

Haha, I have no idea what the deal is with the related videos.
Yeah, it's a bit bodgey but people have tried many different systems and only the single exit ones seem to have no boom. All the dual exit ones drone like mad.

Well, I guess if it avoids the boomy nature of the alternatives then it is all good.

My only concern would be the efficiency of the exhaust flow now. If my Solidworks licence was up to date I'd knock up a best guess CFD of what that mod would do.

Yeah, it probably drops a few bhp off the top. Not fussed really as I like the sound.
The pipe that goes through the silencer is an S shape. We're bypassing 2 of the bends.

Here's a cut away of an S2000 silencer

Mate had this done to his S2K. Sounds rude on VTEC. Maybe a little too loud for my tastes but you know it's coming.

Not sure if he posts about anywhere but his was camo green plastidip and now a satin colour.

Looks just like the exhaust bypass mod for the 996 instead of getting the official sports exhaust, as thats all they are in essence is a bypass.
