I think I've asked this before a long time ago - but will try again

have a P5B Deluxe + Q6600 (G0)

using x 9 multi -S3 sleep works fine - wakes up perfectly - no probs at all, all the way up to 3.6 gig

using x 8 multi - S3 sleep does not work. PC goes into S3 sleep, fans turn off etc, but on wakeup I get nothing, the PC fans spin up etc, so power goes fully on - but monitor does not come on etc

only way to get out of that stuck mode then is to turn PC off at back, and turn power on/off at wall, then on turning it on it says "going out of hibernate"

why would x 9 multi work, but x8 not please ?

any settings I can change ? I'm on latest bios - 1236- or just limitation of the mobo ?

What is your FSB with the x6 multiplier?

When recovering from S3 sleep the system does not just 'come on' but has an mini boot sequence to turn every thing on. If something is O/C to the limit it may fail to restart.

If you want a PC just to quickly start from sleep to check E-mail and the net, then don't overclock it - it doesn't need to be for such low power uses.

on x8 - this is even down to 401 fsb (well anything on x8 really) - so we're only talking 3.2 gig ish

yup I suspect something is not restarting in the boot sequence so to speak

just bizarre that on x9, where the northbridge etc are working harder (due to the strap) - its fine - but x8 is a no-go :(
