S40 T5 R SE

Well I collected it yesterday and it's very nice. Few issues to sort out, but very nice :)

No pics yet as :

a) totally forgot
b) been RC Racing (Durango) and it's now dark.
What issues? There shouldn't be any if you bought it from Volvo for as much as the other one's going for..

Sim card reader missing etc. I.e. nothing major, but should have been checked. Hoping to get the Sat Nav update out of them.. It was cheaper than the Imperial one, but that wasn't difficult

To be fair, Volvo charge a substantial premium for "used approved" cars.
Granted the place in question sounds like a bit of a knocking shop, but you are better off with a reputable indie dealer...

To be honest I largely disagree. Yes, if you find a truely reputable indie dealer but there are very, very few of these. Most of them know little about the cars, offer warranties that are worthless and know only how to stitch customers up and palm off tarted up cars. I hate this middle area of the car market with a passion.

Private seller - where you know EXACTLY what you are getting - or a main dealer, where at least you get a good warranty (But still need to go over the car with a fine toothcomb before buying!).

I see your point, but that said, a Volvo service/approval is worth no more than any other dealership "seal of approval" I've known them make the same kind of schoolboy errors as Ford and Nissan dealers.

I guess the warranty will generally be better, but you have to consider weather its worth paying at least a grand above market value.

The value of the warranty is at least £500, so thats now only 500 quid over market value..

It depends where you are in the market, obviously. On a £20k car the markup isnt as big as it is on a £5k main dealer car, where it'd be £3k everywhere else..

Point in case, before I bought my current car, I was looking at official used cars on the Volvo website around the 10k mark. They were consistently over a grand more expensive, like for like, than anything on autotrader. I'm talking commercial, not private sales.

What I'm trying to say, is it's a big premium for a warranty that doesn't guarantee a sound car. The only benefit is if the car (by random act of god) needs a grands worth of (warranty) work doing in the first year it might be better in that sense.

More photos when I get round to it

Very nice - is it an SE Sport? Judging by the bodykit/spoiler it's not an SE as the SE only has a small bootlip spoiler and no sideskirts/deeper front and rear lips. I used to have an S40 T5 SE and it was a nice relaxing drive. My only criticism was the boot opening. The boot itself is pretty big, but getting stuff into it was like posting things into a letter box as the angle of the rear window makes the boot opening very small. Seats are really comfortable, and the audio system is spot on (I had the premium audio with Dolby surround).

Hi,

Many thanks. I agree with you re the boot, but I can live with that for now..

It's a S40 T5 R-Design SE Sport.

The audio system is superb too :) just a shame it's not iPod aware.

Not as sharp as my old Leon Cupra, but miles my comfortable. The seats indeed are superb. Best bit so far is the zero hassle on the roads. with my Leon Cupra it was like every set of traffic lights there was someone thinking they were Lewis Hamilton or something etc.

Just need to fix my outdoor pipe, order some stuff from polished bliss and give it a real nice clean.

Nice mate, been looking at volvos a lot lately, how much would a decent one of these se you back?

Get in contact with Cambridge Garage Volvo, there service is superb. Re my T5 err well, I haven't seen another one on the Vovlo used sit since I purchased mine. I paid circa £12k for mine, which I think was too much, but I still like it.

Depends what you want, C30 with Polestar is suppose to be good.

I had a D5 loan car the other week and again very good, V50 this time.
