Can you guys focus in to a object ok, using full optical zoom, full auto mode, macro mode and be about 10-20inches away from your object, cos I cant?

If I want to take pic at full optical zoom I have to be at least 2 foot away from the object, to get it to focus in. Is there a prob with my cam or is it the same with all s5600s??

Here 2 flower pics, 1 actual size as I couldnt get any closer using full optical zoom without it going out of focus. The other using the triming feature on the s5600 to blow it up

Stay clear of macro filters, especially if your not using an SLR, they do work but you have to sacrifice a lot of quality. Reversal rings or dedicated macro lenses are the only real solution for macro work.

Of course you won't be able to, for the reason that alexisonfire has mentioned.

Why do you want to take it at full zoom? The S5600 has a 1cm macro mode - if you have the lens nearer the 38mm mark you'll be able to jam the camera right in close and get the results you want.

The manual says you cant get no closer then 10cm in macro mode.

I'm convinced they marketed the S5600 as having a 1cm macro mode.

Unless they mean 10cm from the CCD, in which case that might be 1cm from the front element at 38mm... Wouldn't have been the first time I've seen that statistic rolled out. Either that or I've got the wrong model!

In any case, working at 38mm will be your best bet. Have you tried that yet? If so, what were the results like?

i think dpreview list it as having a 10mm macro mode.. but the manual (and using the camera) suggest otherwise!

The probs is that I cant get really close to most of my objects cos Im in a wheelchair, so I use the zoom to compensate that. But your right, just tried focusing to a object on my desk, and I can get about 3cm to the object before the focusing goes without using the zoom
