s750 or z5500?

I am going to be upgrading my sound system, as I am fed up with my rubbish £30 2.1 speakers.
I will be getting the auzentech X-Fi card when it comes out (or maybe the fatal1ty X-Fi - Advice needed here) But until then I will be using the onboard sound on my EVGA 680i.

Ideally I want to have the analogue cables hooked up to my pc, and the digital/optical for my ps3.

This will mostly be used for gaming, but obviously I will also want a set for films and music (although this is less important).Things like BF2142, CSS & Stalker but also stuff like Colin Mcrae DiRT, Toca 3 etc...

I need your advice on whether to go for the logitech z5500's , or the Creative S750's. The S750's are 7.1, but does this make a large difference in gaming compared with 5.1's? I also need to take into consideration that the S750's are £60 more. I also really like the way the logitech's have the control unit which I can think would be really good. Although I think the S750's are more powerful, but I don't think I will ever be using them on full blast!

Advice/experience would be very welcome as I do not really know where to spend my cash.

Thanks for all the advice so far, but am I correct in thinking that the s750's only have one input? And are they really worth the extra £60 - I am not on a limitless budget...
