Took my S95 with me to Berlin on its first real test run. The night shots I was getting were great. However, when I come back home I went on a night out with friends and decided to take it along. Here's where I had my problems.
On auto mode the S95 seemed to take a while to realise it needed the flash, then a few seconds longer to actually focus. This meant I was pressing the shutter down until the flash appeared and what I would consider a reasonable amount of time and then push all the way down to take the photo. Nearly every shot was out of focus. My previous, cheap compact camera was performing better than this for auto focus in dark environments. Am I missing something? Remembering night outs aren't the best time to get people to stand in the same place for 30 seconds waiting for your camera to focus. My shot would be lost by then.
