Good evening. Please help me decide between this 2 cars. both cars is very nice.
saab cost 1400 and honda 2500 pounds.I want buy tomorou.
Is it honda type R worth extra 1100 pounds?

Pretty much whatever the other car is, I'd choose it over the Saab.

Drive them both and see how much better the Accord is, providing it's not absolutely knackered. The Honda will be a great car to drive assuming it's in good shape, the Saab will be a car.

The accord type r whilst a good car in its day, it's difficult to find one without rust especially in the sills and firewall. Engine can suffer with headgasket issues/high oil consumption, gearbox syncros reverse and 5th, input shaft bearing and clutch release bearing is another. Xenon light leveller etc

They're old cars now, and whilst I own a Japanese model of it, you really have to know what you're looking for with them. Otherwise they can be an endless headache.

I think the Saab would be the safer bet.

I used to own an accord type r and it was great to drive when you wanted to get on it, but to go round town or just cruise about I found the gear ratios all wrong. I had no major issues to be honest but my brother who owned it before me did spend money keeping the engine going. When I sold it the head gasket was about to go but the buyer honestly did not mind. I sold mine for £1400 in 2012 with 140k on the clock, it was red with black recaros and aside from the head gasket it was in good condition all round.

Cant compare to the Saab as I have never driven one.

One is a diesel repmobile, the other is a Sports Saloon, but based on a repmobile but with a list of known issues. I don't feel they're similar.

My choice would be the Accord, but make sure you know what to look for. As said above the gearing is weird in that unless you're banging on the red line in every gear a change up will take you out of the VTEC zone, they're old cars now and VERY prone to rust and also have gearbox Synchro's made of chocolate. Buy on condition and service history, not price. Mileage doesn't really matter at this price either.

If you can find one an alternative is a Saab 9-3 Aero.

Ehh.. one is one of the best warm hatches of all time, widely known for its good handling, interesting drive and great revvy engine.

The other one is a nasty old diesel engined floppy piece of enjoymentless drivel made by a company that don't exist any more.
Now if your doing big boring miles all the time and need something that wont wind you up then get the Saab, if you want to actually be awake during the driving process then get the R.

Thanks guys here is picture and Seller's description for HONDA

Seller's description....Automatic transmission, Driven 120,000 km
Honda Accord Type R, well looked after with some great subtle modifications. Has been placed on 40mm Eibach lowering springs, K&N induction kit, full custom exhaust system from the manifold to back box (it is loud but sounds incredible). The car does have a few imperfections but I will show them if interested.
what do you think?

wait what? An automatic Accord Type R?

I'd take an auto over a manual 9 times out of 10 but not with something like the ATR. I didn't even know you could get an automatic ATR:confused:

A Drivers car. With an automatic gearbox? TBH I don't think I'd have either.

There's two Accord Type R's on Autotrader, both manuals, but also both more than that car.

'The car has some imperfections' but doesn't show them? What else is he hiding?

I'd rather have This if it must be a Saab.

Well it does raise alarm bells as you would think the seller would want to get that... you know. tiny wee.. insignificant fact... correct.
I mean its just one of the best drivers cars around 15 or so years ago and inflicting an automatic to it is like asking an olympic runner to do the 1000m by hopping.

Given a choice between the accord but with a 9mm to the head, and the Saab.

I would take the Accord and shooting. At least your epitaph can say you had a decent car.

What tyres are on it, make and model please? as this will be interesting to see how well its been looked after.

The Honda is an 18 year old enthusiasts performance car. Given the questions you have asked it really seems like the wrong car for you. There will be better cars out there for 2500 quid for your needs.
