SAAB Vigen - incredible STOL take off!!

That’s how the Swedish aerospace industry was initially set up, SAAB built the airframes, Volvo built the engines, so it sort of carries that that would continue when they started producing cars. Until Volvo started building cars on their own right.
 
Terrible thread title the only way that aircraft is doing the VL bit of STOVL is following engine failure and culminates in a massive hole in the ground with an impressive fireball.

Oh it's actually a s35... Didn't even realize...

I made models of these as kids and they always blew my mind how different they were to British jets of the time..
I guess tornado.... In the 80s/early 90s
