Hi guys,

I found that ASUS has the SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 with pci-e 3.0 for amd however, I could not find anyplace which sale it.

Is this motherboard not available in UK?

Thanks,
Regards.

It wasn't official PCI-E 3.0 support just a bridge chip that sort of emulates it, these bridge chips were common in Sandy Bridge motherboards but boards featuring them were expensive and the bridge chip can actually hurt performance in some cases due to the latency they introduced.

I'd guess that it probably went extinct due to being poor value and hardly any faster compared to the normal version.

Nah.., I will not go for FM2+.

I was reading that there is no performance advantage with PCI-e 3.. however, I could not believe it.

Performance in general should be better working PCI-E 3.0.

I ordered my sabertooth as the normal r2 however Gpu-z lists it running at pcie3x16 and there is a PLX chip according to aida64

If you want proper PCI-E 3.0 then it has to be Intel as the current AMD CPU's don't properly support it, But the performance difference between PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0 is literally 0% if your running a single card configuration.
