Was a pity not to see him get a century, but the 12,000 was another great landmark!

Over a period of 18 years, incredible to watch in action, a test average of over 54 together with 16361 ODI runs averaging over 44, arguably the best batsman ever to grace a pitch. Hopefully we'll see another year or two more of him yet. Will be a shame to see him, Dravid and Ganguly all retire so close to each other.

Will also be interesting to see how Ponting performs over the next year or two.
