This article is humour, but rather more serious than most of the site's articles and unpleasantly plausible:

http://www.cracked.com/article_16765_5-ways-stop-trolls-from-killing-internet.html

So...10-20 years before you need to use a personal ID number to access the internet, with everything you access logged. It's possible and the article shows a very plausible route to it that's already started. The money is behind it, the authorities are behind it and there are strong tools to lever it in and to portray opposition to it as dangerous at best and criminal at worst.

I think it will happen.

What do you think?

Any kind of copy protection or enforcement can and will be avoided, just look at every peice of software ever made and then type torrent after it.

The people enforcing these things will always be a step behind as they are doing it for a living as opposed to pleasure.

Something like Internet-2 is already much more strictly regulated. It would make sense that this will happen in the future.

There is a link in that to a New York Times article about trolling and its totally pathetic what these immature people get up to. That Jason Fortuny sounds like a complete and utter moron, its pretty shocking how he doesn't care about what he is doing, and I very much doubt he would ever behave that way if he wasn't protected behind his computer screen!
