Is there anyway to add a download status anywhere to the toolbar?

I know you can get the downloads box that you click to open but I just want a status on the toolbar so I can see it as I browse the web.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I don't think you can do it but how about taking a look at these plugins...
