Hi,

Bit of a strange one here. I use Safari as my default web browser on my PC. Was working fine last night and this morning. However just in the last 30 mins or so it's began to fall over when I click on the desktop icon to open it up. It opens fine and shows me the "Topsites" page of all my favorites but then the screen locks up and although I can move the mouse pointer around I can't click on anything. I have to end the process via Task Manager.

If however, I open Safari up from say an email notification from a forum post here on OcUK for example, it opens up fine, apart from one thing - My hard drive starts going absolutely nuts??!!. The light on the front of the PC for HD activity is fully lit up and the drive itself grinds and thrashes in a never ending manner until you end the Safari.exe process in Task Manager again.

Any ideas?.

use chrome.
like Safari but better.
for that matter try firefox
or IE, even THAT is better than Safari.

failing that.
uninstall. delete the folder and reinstall
take care tho. if it's an apple product it will have that stupid apple networking issue.

Cheers, will give that a go.

I uninstalled Safari, deleted all folders related to it and cleaned the Registry of any Safari entries.

However when I now try and install a fresh copy of Safari after it has installed and I attempt to open it, I get a message saying "Safari is missing important resources and should be reinstalled".

This is bizarre. It was all working fine earlier on and now I can't even reinstall a completely new/fresh copy?.

This get's stranger still!!!. I am currently using Opera to post this and after going into my Opera preferences I appear to be missing a load of text from them as you can see in this screenshot. The tickboxes are there but the text has vanished? :-
