I've turned on the setting in Safari to display the full url in the address bar.

Why is it then that if I visit google.co.uk and run a search, I don't get a url at all in the address bar, but instead the search term.

This is maddening.

I see what you mean. Sort of.

If I open google.co.uk, type overclockers.co.uk in the search box and hit enter, I get the following in the address bar: https://www.google.co.uk/#q=overclockers+uk

But that's correct. I'm on google, I'm not yet on OcUK.

If I then click the first link, the address bar at the top changes to https://www.overclockers.co.uk

So I think what you're seeing is correct. Safari doesn't show the URL in the address bar until you actually go there!

Ah no. i don't even get https://www.google.co.uk/#q=overclockers+uk I get the actual search term in the address bar "overclockers.co.uk" rather than https://www.google.co.uk**** etc...

If I then click in the address bar rather than revealing the URL if just highlights my search term.

It's really annoying as sometimes like to just switch from google.co.uk to .com or wherever without having to re-input the search term.

I'm on Safari 9.0.2

Ah yes it does.

So if i want to change the url I need to copy the address bar contents, which to the eye is only the search term, then paste it back and then change.

What odd behaviour. It will take some getting used to.

It's mainly a problem for me when travelling and needing to use to difference google addresses for different searches. I know they should all be equal, but that's not been my experience.
