Safari won't let go of being default browser.

I'm finding that no matter how many times I set Firefox as my default browser everytime I click on a link in Mail up pops Safari.

Ideas appreciated.

Safari, preferences, default browser. If that doesn't work, something's seriously screwed (that's a technical term

This is why. There is a long standing bug with OS X which, when FileVault is enabled, it won't remember default apps of your choice.
