Hi all,
Recently bought a whole new rig, extremely pleased with it so far. Thought I'd dabble with overclocking the gpu a little to see what I could get away with.
I used MSI Afterburner after being showed it in my original thread when I was first buying the thing (see: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18455330)
I can't change the core voltage for some reason? So I know I can't do extreme amounts, but to be honest I wouldn't dare anyway. I'm a bit of a techy at heart, but don't know nearly enough to be screwing around with voltages.
I've set the core clock to 950mHz and the core memory to 1350mHz. I used furmark as a bench, and it seemed stable enough, no artifacting at all or anything silly like that, so I thought I'd try out BF3, seeing as I just bought it a couple days ago, and know it's quite a graphically intensive game.
Well, I was getting 70+ (often even 80 or 90!) fps on Ultra settings. Which was awesome, but I did notice that to accomodate for my overclock, the stock fan which is all I have for my gpu, was working a little harder than before (obviously! haha)
It wasn't LOUD per sé, but I was just wondering if there are any guidelines for maximum sustained temperatures on my gpu? I did a quick Google search but couldn't find much. Possibly partly due to the fact it's 3.30am! Haha!
Anyway, thanks guys, my full build is below if it helps any.
GigaByte Z77x-D3H
Intel i5-3570k @ 3.4gHz (Plan to overclock soon with some reading into it, actually have a CoolerMaster fan for it
)
8GB DDR3 RAM
XFX HD7950
XFX 850w PSU
-Pellit
