Safe boot after overclocking

Evening all. I have an irritating problem
After overclocking my CPU to 3.2 ghz & 1.4V last week (12 hours orthos tested btw) whenever I do a cold boot it takes ages to post and I get a message saying "its now in safe mode and you need to clear cmos. you need to press f1 to continue or delete to enter setup"
Upon entering setup lo and behold everything has been dialled back to stock. I then enter back to clocked settings and reboot and it then boots all the way to windows no problems and I can carry on as normal until I have to cold boot again. Rinse and repeat. Very annoying!
Have I missed something or does anyone know whats going on?
Help would be most appreciated :D
