Hi Guys and Girls

Sorry that this isnt a sandybridge question but some of us are living 'so last year'...yea!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could guide me on the safe temps for an i5 760? I am currently on 3.8Ghz (just passed 20 runs of IBT) and the temps were 62 63 60 63. I find that IBT usually gives way higher temps then I would normally push my PC but I still like to be sure of these things.

Now, I am trying to hit 4Ghz and I am expecting a large ramp up of volts to get there. I am sitting on 20 x 190 @ 1.15V at the moment and I dont really want to go over 1.25Vs. I am air cooling with a megahalems and 2 apache blacks that seem to be doing the job right now but I just want to check.

SO yea, what is the maximum temps that I could expect from an IBT run? 70'c? 75'c?

EDIT: Just done a IBT run at 4Ghz. I tried 1.15V and 1.175V but both failed. 1.2V passed fine with the highest temp being 71'c. I am priming for a small while now and if stable for a while I will play a few games and then prime overnight.

ive just overclocked my i5, 20 multiplier and 185mhz frequency which is giving me a cpu voltage of 1.39 and a clock of 3.7ghz.

is the cpu voltage too high?

That's a lot of volts for a small overclock so i would say that it is too high.

Mine needs 1.272v for 4Ghz (200x20). Going past that takes a big increase in voltage to 1.375v for 4.2ghz (200x21) so day to day i run at 4Ghz.

Currently at 3.8 on my i5 750, can't remember my setting but I'm running at 37 idle, 67 load. SO I wouldn't worry about 70-75, that'd be my upper limit

thats strange, well after changing a few other bits in the bios from a tutorial on youtube iv managed 4ghz stable, 20 x 200 but the volts are the same, 1.392.

iv read that the gigabyte boards automatically up the voltage so you dont have to but they do it a tad high? is this safe or would it be worth me manually setting the voltage?

scratch that, it crashed after around 45 minutes, im back to 3.5ghz now see how i go, voltage is 1.34.
