Safe max temp for an e8500

Many will say keep it below 70c with no more than 1.4v to 1.45v on air. As to the official Intel numbers then I'm not aware of them. I like to keep below 60c at full load as who knows how accurte the software programs are.

Keep coretemps under 80ish during stress testing.

60C is ridiculous IMO...no offense guys but it's not 2004 anymore with our old school AMD chips blowing up when they climb over 60

Intel rates the max tcase as 72C so the cores can get hotter than that.

was taking the life of the chip into consideration.....

Most people who are asking about cpu temps and voltages and posting on here will no doubt upgrade on a regular basis, few years maximum. So the life of the cpu may not be an issue to the majority of people I would have thought. How much longer will low temps 30c-40c enable the cpu to work as opposed to say 60c-70c 24/7?

Well 60-70 coretemps are still well within Intel's specified safe operating range...so I would say not much difference at all.

A email reply I got from Intel on a E8600 is 72.4c, I would assume E8500 would be simular.
