Hello,

MSI 7950 Twin Frozr 3gb with 880mhz core clock. With good case airflow, what would you consider a safe overclock to be for this videocard? could I push it above a 1000?

This is my overclock. I've got the HIS 7950 IceQ 3Gb. Anything higher than that causes the driver to crash for me. I turned it down a bit in the summer with the HIS cooler due to temps, though i'm now using a Kraken G10 + X31 to cool it, so hopefully i wont have to this year. Basically just push it as much as you can untill the temps start getting too high (80C + )

What's your ASIC? I highly recommend running a modded bios for this card, as its stabler. Click for more info.

My daily OC use to be 1100/1500, but I changed it to 1050/1400 with lower voltage (can't remember now and I'm not at home atm). There's no big difference in-game and there's in temps & volts, so just look for a compromise between clocks, performance, volts & temperatures. You should be able to run the card at 1100/1500 without a problem.

I don't actually have to card in my hand as of yet, just purchased a bgrade card from OcUK. So I'd probably be safe above 1050 just a matter of trial and error. It's only to last me till the 300 series are released.

How do you find the card in newly released games?

Appreciate the help :-)

my old 7950's both run at 1200 / 1550 for benching.
and day today i did 1100 / 1400 for gaming.

the cards and very good clockers.

Till 300 series? Than OC it to 1150/1500 and enjoy, I runned my 7950 with 1100/1500 for quite a while, I've had owned my IceQ for 3 year now. I should probably upgrade, but I don't see the need to atm.

I only managed to get 1201/1620 on my HIS IceQ 7950 with modded BIOS, some people with gigabyte hit 1260/1690. My card is ASIC 79.8% so not too bad, but 1100/1400 shouldn't be a problem for most 79x0 series.

i had 5 of the card that he as ordered and all did the same for day to day.

if i was him i would be having words with OcUK though, the card was refurbish and sold at 120 the one in bgrade was more, and i would think its a returned refurbished card

I thought it was a right bargain at £80, hence why I purchased it... Im not looking for anything major... Just to see me through till the new ones are released...

I'll see how well it overclocks once it arrives.... Reading reviews, I've only seen good things about it so far...Very good clocker..

Mine does 1030Mhz @ 1.031v, which I think is stock volts. Its got a lot more in it, but its extremely quiet like this, so I'd rather leave it as it is.

a bump in core give a bump in game FPS, memory dose not make much difference.

up the memory to 1400 and stop then just up the core at find its max.

Well i tend not to play games just as they're released, but most games i've played so far can be run at ultra/high 60fps 1080p no problems. Its managing 40-60fps in Watch_Dogs ultra with the Worsemod installed, so i cant complain about it
