Been playing with my new 775 mobo (Gigabyte G31M-ES2L). I can set the pci-e frequency to auto or set it to a particular frequency. If I set it on auto I can get the fsb right up to about 400 and beyond but if I set the pci-e to 100 the fsb wont get past about 330. I don't want to use the auto setting as I have no idea how high the pci-e frequency is being raised.
So the question is, what's a safe maximum frequency? The conensus of opinion on the net seems to be that up to 105 - 110 would be ok but others are saying go no higher than 104 or I'll risk damage to my gpu & sata drives.
My sensible head is saying to just make do with a frequency of 100 and a low overclock on this budget board but my reckless head wants to just whack it up to 110 or more and see what happens
