Hi all

Have got my Q6600 up to 3.33ghz stable, but it is requiring 1.45v in the BIOS which makes for 1.4/1.41v in CPU-z on load

Whats the safe maximum I can go up to? both temp and voltage wise

I heard that 70 degrees is the safe limit temp wise isnt it?

Cheers

Ben

70c - 75c should be the limit that you are looking at under stress testing

voltage wise probably around 1.5v on air 1.55v on water under load but it depends on the temperatures you are getting... People have run 1.6v through their Q6600 no problems, they are tough little CPU.

I think 70 is the region you dont want to exceed yes.

I have a G0 at 3.6Ghz but I only use 1.4 volts and my temps at load are 65 degrees c. I am awaiting delivery of a H50 and hoping it will bring the temps down and let me continue with the overclock.

yeah i think that my next purchase is going to be a H50 as well, the Freezer 7 does well but is really having to work at 3.33ghz on full load just about contains the 70 degree mark.

Think i will stick with that until I get better cooling, under water I will be a little bit less scared of exceeding 1.4v

Pneumonic - do you mean 1.5v load in CPU-z or 1.5v in the BIOS settings, as I know the 2 are completely different :)

Cheers

Got my H50.

Sat at 3.8Ghz on 1.44 Volts at 38 degrees idle, im fairly happy with that going to let the thermal paste bed in or whatever the term is and then see what the bigger picture is.

Must admit the standard fan aint very quiet so might have to invest in something more decent.

Running 3.6GHz with 1.5v, max loads with the H50 is around 66C, idling high 20 to low 30C.

Keep it under 1.6v and 75C and you'll be fine, these chips are pretty hard wearing!

Thats good idle temperatures!!!

max volts is whats shown by cpu-z

nice clocks iTek mate

Cheers fella! :)

These are good to know. My Q6600 managed 3.4 at around 1.4v. Hoping to try for 3.6 soon

Go for it ;)

what prog are you using to do load testing on the cpu?

you are aware that if your trying to do overclock testing and voltage tuning on your cpu, prime95 is uselss. your better off using linpak in the form of intelburntest or linx to get some proper temp readings and do proper stability testing.
