Safe Registry Cleaners ?

CCleaner is highly regarded if you insist on running one.

I've never run a registry cleaner in my life/career and can't say I've missed out but that's just me.

Back in the day I use to use Registry Mechanic or TuneUp Registry Cleaner.
Windows 7, unlike XP doesn't kill itself with dodgy registry entries and keys left behind so as said above CCleaner is a very good choice.

Run it once a week...

Hmmm.. not sure I'd follow that advice :/

You run the risk of deleting something very useful. Generally the advice now is not to bother with registry cleaners. They don't offer any performance gains.

I still run CCleaner every now and then, but I really don't think it's needed these days.

Reg cleaners are a waste of time, although CCleaner is useful when you have to force a stubborn program to uninstall.

Messing with the registry if you don't know what your doing is daft. Messing with the registry you don't understand using a program you don't know what's doing is frankly, silly.

This pretty much, Ccleaner is handy for clearing out cookies, temp files, internet cache and assorted other "stuff" from time to time. Wheter that produces any improvements or benefit at all these days is another matter entirely. I suspect there's a large placebo effect in force rather than tangible gains with this stuff now.

I have CCleaner installed, but not to clean my registry. I use it to uninstall programs and clean out temp files :p

Not really sure if registry cleaning is worth it.

ccleaner is defo your best bet, it always prompts for a backup before you run the reg cleaner which is pretty handy.. as long as you do the backup you haven't got anything to lose tbh.

Make a backup/restore point before you start. You shouldn't need a registry cleaner really, and the only time I ever used CC cleaner for registry cleaning it screwed up some registries and my computer didn't even boot, so had to fresh install. Haven't used it for some years since then.

There are none.

If you must tamper with what doesn't need cleaning try CCleaner and make a backup first. The days of PCs with not enough RAM to effectively process the registry are long gone.

re:

Thanks all, I am not thinking about an register cleaner to boost my system but to clean a fair few programs out that did not uninstall correctly.
Almost all agree CCleaner is the business so I`ll give it a go :)
Thanks to all

CCleaner is very good however I have had it remove the 'openwith' registry entires of which buggered things up when I was opening exe's etc.

Before using this always use the backup prompted by CCleaner!

regseeker has always been win for me (especially as it doesn't install anything). However, I'd find running a reg cleaner on Win7 rather pointless
