Hi dudes, i've been googlewacking all afternoon but i'm having trouble finding recomended 'safe' temperatures for my rig.

i've just started overclocking my DFI lanparty ultra-D and i'm watching the chipset temperatures rise to about *checks* 75 degrees, now, what are safe temps for this sort of system, i'm sure a lot of you have had a 939 system and pushed it.

also, while i'm asking about temperatures what temperature is likly to kill my X2 or my 7900GTX, i'm running them both on water to my main concern is the northbridge, which i cant fit a waterblock to because the 7900 is right ontop of it!

i'm currently running a blend test with me FSB on 230 so i'f im in danger of cooking my mobo please tell me ASAP!

Thanks
Solouko

IIRC the chipset can run silly hot (i have the SLI-D) with no problems. 75c while high is ok.

There is a waterblock that fits the DFI (Alphacool I think) but you really dont need one. I can hit 324HTT on my board and extra cooling makes no difference.

The higher the overclock the lower the temperature needed. Keep things below 50c load, high voltage is more likely to kill an X2.

well i've got the system temp a little hotter than 75 >.o it actualy runs at closer to 80 fully loaded >.<

but i'm going to have a play with the cooling fans on the water radiator and to and improve the air flow inside the case a little.

as for fitting a waterblock to the NB it's not an option, the graphics card is directly over the NB cooler making it imposible to fit anything other then the stock cooler :( idealy i need another 120mm fan directly over the graphics card and the northbridge, even though there is space i'm not sure how i'd go about mounting it.

UPDATE!:
ok i've turned the fans round on my radiator, they were all blowing in, which ment i had no air flow thru the case, now my tmps have dropped by 17 degrees on the chipset and with an additional fan on the radiator the CPU and GPU are holding a nice 38 and 36 degrees respectivly

just goes to show what good air flow through a case can do, i'm glad i spent so long tidying up the cables now XD
